President Droupadi Murmu, as a mark of devotion, walked two kilometres to reach Jagannath temple during her maiden visit to Odisha after assuming office.

By India Today Web Desk: President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday walked 2 km in Odisha’s Puri to reach Jagannath temple to offer prayers. She is on her maiden two-day state visit after assuming the high office in July.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan accompanied the President to the temple.
This is Murmu’s first visit to the state after becoming the president in July.
The state government has already declared a half-day holiday for all offices, schools and colleges in the state capital region on the occasion of Murmu’s visit.
Elaborate security arrangements have also been made in Puri and Bhubaneswar for the president’s tour.
