Schmidt left after taking a big hit from Predators forward Tanner Jeannot behind his own net. The Winnipeg defenceman would make his way to the bench, before immediately heading down the tunnel.
There was no penalty called on the play, but on the ensuing faceoff, the Jets’ Adam Lowry challenged Jeannot to a spirited exchange of fists.
Schmidt, 31, has played in 28 games for the Jets this season, scoring three goals and dishing out three assists.
