Jon Jones will make his UFC heavyweight debut when he takes on Ciryl Gane in a championship bout at UFC 285 on Mar. 4, UFC president Dana White announced Saturday.

It was also announced that Jones, who many would argue is the greatest fighter of all time, signed a new eight-fight deal with the UFC ahead of his matchup with Gane.
The fight in early March will be Jones’ first appearance in the ring since he defended his light heavyweight title versus Dominick Reyes. This upcoming duel in the octagon will be the first time that Jones has fought in the heavyweight class and it will be for the now-vacant heavyweight title.
The announcement comes after UFC was unable to come to terms with Francis Ngannou, who was the last heavyweight champion after defeating Gane back on Jan. 22, 2022.
