Payton II was part of a four-team deal made prior to the NBA trade deadline on Thursday, but failed a team physical with the Warriors on Friday. He had undergone surgery on an abdominal issue over the off-season, but lingering effects kept him out for almost the first half of the season.
The Warriors are reportedly facing a 9:30 p.m. ET Sunday deadline to determine whether they want to proceed or terminate the deal.
