Another night, another highlight-reel goal for Connor Bedard.
The Regina Pats star scored a beautiful short-handed goal in his team’s 7-4 loss to the Canadian Hockey League’s top-ranked Winnipeg Ice on Saturday.
On the rush, Bedard put the puck between his legs and drove by Ice winger Connor McClennon. When he got to the net, his first shot was stopped by Daniel Hauser, but Bedard deposited the rebound to give the host Pats a 3-1 lead midway through the second period.
Bedard also had two assists to finish with three points — one night after notching two goals and two assists in a 6-5 loss to the Prince Albert Raiders.
The 17-year-old Bedard, who leads the WHL in scoring, is expected to go No. 1 overall in this year’s NHL Draft.
It was the sixth win in a row for the Ice (43-7-1). Buffalo Sabres prospect Matthew Savoie and Ottawa Senators prospect Zack Ostapchuk, a teammate of Bedard’s on this year’s gold medal-winning Canadian world junior team, each scored two goals for Winnipeg.
BEDARD’S SEASON TOTALS: 41 GP, 51 G, 52 A, 103 Pts.
PATS’ RECORD: 25-23-3 (Tied for sixth in the Eastern Conference)
