Bedard Watch: Pats star held pointless for just third time all season vs. Blades

Not only did the Saskatoon Blades pick up a 5-2 win on Sunday, but they did something that has seemed like an impossible task for most teams this year — they kept Connor Bedard off the scoresheet.

For just the third time all season, the Regina Pats phenom failed to register a point as his team fell to the Blades.

The only other games Bedard didn’t pick up a single point were the team’s regular-season opener back on Sept. 23 and Feb. 3 against the Lethbridge Hurricanes — the latter of which snapped an incredible 35-game point streak.

Bedard’s scoreless game on Sunday comes right after one of his best stretches of the season, where he had 12 points over his past three games including a four-goal masterclass against the Winnipeg ICE on Friday.

Unsurprisingly, even with the off night, Bedard still has a comfortable hold on the WHL’s scoring race, as his 123 points are 26 clear of the ICE’s Zach Benson who sits second.

Bedard had four shots on goal against the Blades and was an uncharacteristic minus-five.

    BEDARD’S SEASON TOTALS: 48 GP, 59 G, 64 A, 123 Pts.

PATS’ RECORD: 31-25-3 (Sixth in the Eastern Conference)

UP NEXT: Bedard will have a chance to get back on the scoresheet when the Pats host the Edmonton Oil Kings on Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. MT.
