University of Michigan forward Adam Fantilli took home the Hobey Baker Award for the most outstanding NCAA men’s college hockey player this season on Friday in Tampa Bay.

Fantilli edged-out fellow finalists Logan Cooley, former third-overall pick for the Arizona Coyotes, and Matthew Knies, a Toronto Maple Leafs prospect. Cooley and Knies both play for Minnesota, which will face Quinnipiac in the national final on Saturday
The 18-year-old Fantilli, a Canadian, was the top scorer in the NCAA, notching 64 points in 35 games and taking home the Tim Taylor Rookie of the Year award for his efforts.
Fantilli’s Wolverines were eliminated from the Frozen Four on Thursday after losing 5-3 in the semifinals to Quinnipiac.

Draft-eligible this year, Fantilli ranks second behind Regina Pats phenom Connor Bedard, according to Sportsnet’s Sam Cosentino.
Fantilli also helped Canada win gold at the world junior championship this year in Halifax.
Other recent notable Hobey Baker recipients are Cole Caufield (2021), Cale Maker (2019) and Jack Eichel (2015).
Meanwhile, Buffalo Sabres goalie Devon Levi won the Mike Richter Award for the second year in a row as the NCAA’s top netminder.

The former Northeastern goalie, from Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Que., is the first player to repeat as Richter winner.
Levi was signed by the Sabres late last month after Northeastern was eliminated in the post-season.
