Matt Murray remains day-to-day with a head injury and is not expected to join the Toronto Maple Leafs for the final road trip of the regular season.
Head coach Sheldon Keefe says the team hasn’t finalized their plan for their backup goaltending situation.
“I’m not quite sure. There is a lot of stuff happening with that,” Keefe said after practice Sunday. “Roster status is up in the air at this point in terms of what that would look like.”
Toronto signed goaltender Jett Alexander to an amateur tryout agreement on Saturday to serve as Ilya Samsonov’s backup and ended up playing the final minute of the game.
Third-stringer Joseph Woll had been up with the big club this week on an emergency recall but was returned to the Marlies to shed his cap hit, temporarily, off the books in order to have room to potentially sign top prospect Matthew Knies.
Forward Calle Jarnkrok was absent from practice but an MRI came back negative according to Keefe. The 31-year-old missed Saturday’s game and was considered day-to-day but is expected to join the team on the road.
Toronto takes on the Florida Panthers on Monday, followed by the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday.
