Report: Warriors GM Bob Myers not close to new deal with club

The man who put together four championship teams with the Golden State Warriors is nowhere close to reaching a deal for an extension with the club, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports.

Warriors president of basketball operations/general manager Bob Myers and the team have no traction on a new deal with the executive’s contract set to expire on June 30, Charania writes.

Myers joined the club as assistant general manager in 2011 and was promoted to GM the following year.

Charania says there is interest in Myers from private equity funds and other pro sports leagues.

The Warriors were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs by the Los Angeles Lakers this year.

Coach Steve Kerr, meanwhile, has just one year left on his contract.

“Our organization has a lot to sort through this summer,” Kerr said Tuesday. “My contract situation is not, nor should it be, at the top of the list. Right now Bob’s contract situation is No. 1 because that influences a lot of the player decisions that have to be made, contracts, draft, free agency. We will get to my stuff whenever that happens and I’m in no rush for that.”
