The 24-year-old Minnesota native has been a Raptor since 2021 and is set to earn $18.5 million in the final year of his deal. Haynes also reports that Trent wants to remain in Toronto and that both sides will work on a longer-term deal.

Declining his 2023-24 player option would have allowed Trent to pursue a more lucrative deal.
Trent Jr. averaged 17.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 66 games for the Raptors this season.
Fellow teammate Fred VanVleet decided to test the waters of NBA free agency. The 29-year-old point guard opted out of his contract on Monday and will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
