It appears the Seattle Mariners‘ store is changing its plan to showcase Toronto Blue Jays merchandise ahead of this weekend’s series on the West Coast.

Dave ‘Softy’ Mahler, a host on Seattle sports radio station 93.3 KJR FM, tweeted a photo late Tuesday of Blue Jays merchandise having been removed from the shelf where it was originally located.

The new look comes after Mariners players Paul Sewald and J.P. Crawford posted tweets expressing disappointment with the store showcasing Blue Jays gear.

The original decision by the Mariners store prompted another Seattle retailer, Simply Seattle, to change its bio on Twitter.

“One stop shop for all things Seattle and Seattle sports. Home of the world’s largest Seattle SuperSonics store. We DON’T sell Blue Jays Gear,” it now reads.

Simply Seattle also held a sale Tuesday, offering 40 per cent off with the promo code ‘BlueJaysSuck.’

The Mariners’ annual home series against Toronto traditionally attracts thousands of Western Canadian fans, making the contests feel like home games for the Blue Jays.

The 1977 expansion cousins squared off in last year’s wild-card series with the Mariners winning 2-0 in Toronto.

The teams then completed a significant trade this off-season with the Blue Jays acquiring reliever Erik Swanson and pitching prospect Adam Macko for outfielder Teoscar Hernandez.
