It didn’t take long for Toronto Blue Jays infield prospect Orelvis Martinez to make an impact at triple-A Buffalo.
In his second at-bat of his debut at the minor leagues’ top level, Martinez, 21, cranked a two-run homer off Syracuse Mets starter Tylor Megill in the third inning on Tuesday.

Martinez was hitting sixth and playing third base.
The Blue Jays’ No. 4-ranked prospect was promoted from double-A New Hampshire on Monday.
Playing with double-A New Hampshire for the second year in a row, Martinez was slashing .226/.339/.485 with 17 homers and 46 RBI in 70 games.
His slashing numbers are all better than last year.
