Clarke and Team Canada took down Czechia 3-2 in overtime in the gold-medal game at the World Junior Hockey Championship on Thursday. He finished the game with two assists on both the opening and game-winning goals.
Overall at the tournament, the former 2021 eighth-overall pick notched two goals and eight points, leading all Canadian defencemen in points.
The 19-year-old has made nine appearances with the Los Angeles Kings so far this season and has two assists.
He played junior hockey with the Colts during the 2019-20 and 2021-22 seasons, with the season in between spent in the Slovak Extraliga on the Nova Zamky Mikron HC. In the 112 games played in the OHL, he netted 17 goals and 97 points.
Barrie is currently fourth in the OHL’s Eastern Conference with an 18-9-4 record.
Clarke’s re-assignment comes on the same day that former fourth-overall pick and Canada captain Shane Wright re-joined the OHL’s Kingston Frontenacs after a successful World Junior tourney.
