Canadian golfer Ben Silverman took a huge step toward reclaiming his PGA Tour card by capturing the Korn Ferry Tour’s the Bahamas Great Exuma Classic in a playoff on Wednesday.

After making a double bogey on the par-5 18th to drop into a tie with American Cody Blick, the native of Thornhill, Ont. had to regroup to play No. 18 again.
This time, he made a short putt for par while Blick double bogeyed to give the Canadian the crown in the tour’s second event of the season.
Silverman told the tour broadcast he almost broke down walking up the 18th fairway the first time.
“I got way ahead of myself in my head thinking I had won the tournament,” he said. “It worked out in the end.”
The 35-year-old Silverman, who shot 15 under for the tournament, was playing on a sponsor’s exemption after losing full status last year.
Silverman made it to the PGA Tour through the Korn Ferry Tour for the 2017-18 season — and stayed on the top circuit for two seasons before losing his status.
The top 25 players at the end of the Korn Ferry Tour regular season earn PGA Tour cards for the following season.
It was Silverman’s second career Korn Ferry title — he also won the 2017 Price Cutter Charity Championship.
Silverman earned $180,000 US for Wednesday’s win.
