Canadian Maude-Aimee Leblanc sits third after the morning wave of the second round of the LPGA Tour’s DIO Implant LA Open in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
Leblanc, from Sherbrooke, Que., shot her second successive round of 4-under 67 on Friday to put her at eight under for the tournament.
The Canadian is two strokes back of leader Yin Ruoning of China and one behind defending champion Nasa Hataoka of Japan.
Leblanc is playing well despite not feeling great about her swing.
“It was an interesting round. I feel like it was either a really good shot or a really bad one. I don’t know,” Leblanc said.
“So yeah, there is still something in my swing that doesn’t feel quite right yet, but it’s great to still be able to post some scores.”
Canadian star Brooke Henderson, who won this event in 2021, is taking this week off.
The six-foot-one Leblanc, 34, finished 76th in the LPGA Tour standings last season.
The Canadian tied for 48th in her 2023 season debut last week at the LPGA Drive On Championship at Superstition Mountain.
A week earlier, Leblanc tied for third at an Epson Tour event — the feeder circuit to the LPGA.
